BJP is scared of Uddhav Thackeray, says Sanjay Raut

A day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s rally in Maharashtra’s Nanded district, Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday claimed the Bharatiya Janata Party was ‘scared’ of Uddhav Thackeray and said it was a good thing. “It is good that the BJP is scared of Uddhav Thackeray. It ensured a split in the party (Shiv Sena), gave name and its symbol to traitors; still, the fear of Uddhav Thackeray and Shiv Sena (original) has not gone. Mr. Shah spoke for 20 minutes of which seven minutes were spent on Uddhav ji. His speech is amusing. I wonder whether his rally at Nanded was part of BJP’s Maha Sampark Abhiyan or an occasion to criticise Thackeray,” he said.

Supreme Court observation on resignation of Uddhav Thackeray underscores historic blunder

MUMBAI: Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray's sudden resignation from the chief minister's post on July 29, 2022 has cost him the possibility of being reinstated. The Supreme Court has said it is not possible to restore status quo ante for the MVA as the former CM had chosen to quit and not face a floor test. Thackeray resigned at the peak of the rebellion within his party on the very day the apex court refused to stay the floor test ordered by then governor B S Koshyari. The move had been criticised by MVA allies, who were kept in the dark. It will now be seen as a historic blunder by an emotional leader, who occupied the top post but was a novice in electoral politics. Justifying his resignation on Wednesday, Thackeray said, "My resignation may have been legally wrong but morally, I could not have allowed people who betrayed the party to decide on whether to trust me or not in a no-confidence motion." He said the traitors had no right to ask him any questions. Soon after Thackeray quit, former CM Prithviraj Chavan had criticised the move and said he should have faced the trust vote. "He should have remained present in the house, and explained to the people the reasons for his resignation. Speeches on the floor of the house become a historic document," Chavan had said. In the revised edition of his autobiography released recently, NCP supremo Sharad Pawar commented on the resignation. He said Thackeray failed to resolve the discontent within his own party and stepped ...

"Scared": Team Uddhav Thackeray On Amit Shah's "Betrayed BJP" Remark

Mumbai: Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut on Sunday claimed the Bharatiya Janata Party was "scared" of his party chief Uddhav Thackeray and said it was a good thing. The comments came a day after Union Home Minister Amit Shah in a rally in Nanded tore into Uddhav Thackeray over the chain of events post the 2019 Assembly polls which led to the unravelling of the Shiv Sena-BJP alliance. Amit Shah called Mr Thackeray's joining hands with the Nationalist Congress Party and Congress to form the Maha Vikas Aghadi government as betrayal for the sake of power.

Supreme Court Ruling In Maharashtra

Supreme Court Ruling In Maharashtra-Shiv Sena Saga Highlights Uddhav Thackeray’s Folly Of Resignation Had Uddhav Thackeray not resigned as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra last June, the power dynamics would have seen a huge shift in the state on Thursday as the Supreme Court could have then reinstated him. • • • • • Uddhav Thackeray PTI Photo Former Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena faction head Uddhav Thackeray lost the party’s name and its registered bow and arrow symbol to Eknath Shinde, incumbent chief minister and head of the other faction of the splintered Shiv Sena. Now the direction of the Supreme Court to the Speaker of the Maharashtra assembly to decide on the disqualification petition filed by the Thackeray faction against Shinde and 16 others has come as a setback for the latter. Thackeray had in his plea before the apex court requested the court to decide on the petition as it would be without prejudice or political considerations. With the Speaker being the final deciding authority on the petition, Thackeray will now have to gear for the next round of battle against Shinde and his faction. The verdict of the Supreme Court may have given the Eknath Shinde-led Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena-BJP government a breather, but it has scratched the credibility of the chief minister. Had Thackeray, the then-chief minister taken the floor test and not resigned, the verdict would have told a different story. He may have been reinstated as the Chief Minister and the Ma...
