The Telugu film Virupaksha, starring Sai Dharam Tej and Samyuktha Menon in the lead, released in theatres on April 21, and got off to a decent start, which was expected to suffer a dent once Akhil Akkineni’s Agent came at the end of the month. However, Agent’s colossal failure gave the suspense thriller Virupaksha a major boost at the box office, prompting the team to dub and release it in other languages by May 5. The dubbed versions, though, did not work as well as the original, and only a month later, shortly after the film crossed over into the Rs 100 crore club, Virupaksha dropped on Netflix. Interestingly, though, when the film came on the streamer, it was only available in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi audio and audiences wondered why Kannada and Malayalam had been omitted. It gave rise to speculation whether these two versions were sold to other platforms after all. But today, the streamer announced that audiences who had been waiting for Virupaksha with Kannada or Malayalam audio options can now avail the same. Directed by Karthik Varma Dandu, based on a screenplay written by filmmaker Sukumar of Pushpa fame, Virupaksha was produced by BVSN Prasad and Sukumar through Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra and Sukumar Writings.
