IPL: Wayne Parnell executes plans to perfection as RCB maul RR

Rajasthan Royals (RR) batters endured a rare off day in the Indian Premier League (IPL) after Sanju Samson and Co suffered a 112-run defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in Jaipur on Sunday. IPL 2023: For RR, it was a batting collapse like they had never seen before. Well, almost. Chasing a target of 172 which Sanju Samson said “could have gone to the wire”, RR collapsed to 59 off just 10.3 overs. Dhruv Jurel interview: 'MS Dhoni told me to just watch the ball and not think about pressure' Yuzvendra Chahal interview: 'When I retire, some other guy might break my record. Not thinking about it' But this was not the first time they were all out for 59 or less. In Cape Town in 2009, against the same opponents (RCB), RR were bundled out for 58 in 15.1 overs. Talk about déjà vu! Yashasvi Jaiswal (0), Jos Buttler (0) and Sanju Samson (4) looked off colour. There was just one batter who scored more than 30 (Shimron Hetmyer, 35), and one more batter who had reached the double-figure mark (Joe Root, 10). Needless to say, the RR batting order looked awfully weak, and if their recent mixed run of fortunes are to go by, this is one result that RR would like to forget. So, how did RR collapse? Mohammed Siraj opened RCB’s bowling attack after fifties from Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell had led RCB to 171/5. Yashasvi Jaiswal being dismissed for nought is not something you see everyday. Same with the case of Jos Buttler. In the second ball of the first over, an overpi...

Cricketer Wayne Parnell and fashion blogger Aisha Baker-Parnell have welcomed their baby girl. Aisha took to Instagram, posting a picture of herself in the labour room to make the announcement. “I’ve given birth to our little baby girl. My family and I are overwhelmed with gratitude and feeling unbelievably blessed.” she wrote. The blogger went on to say that she had decided go on a social media hiatus until she got into the 'swing' of things after the arrival of their baby. “ I’m officially out of office for a while adjusting to my new life with my babies,” she wrote. Wayne Parnell commended Aisha and wished his baby girl well. “To the surrogate Aisha (inside joke) once again you’ve grown, carried and birthed the most perfect little human, may she be protected by Allah always and be blessed with good health, show respect and compassion and have a strong faith.” he wrote. It hasn't been an easy pregnancy for the couple. For the most part, Wayne's career has had him travelling in and out of the country. 'Fully committed to the path going forward'

"I didn't set out my store to say I am coming back into South African cricket and I want to play for the Proteas again," Parnell said at a press conference to mark his return. "I was quite happy coming back to Western Province and trying to add value in their environment. But then it led to these bigger things. For me, I don't have any expectations. "He (Victor Mpitsang, convener of selectors) asked me if I was interested to play international cricket and I said I cannot turn down my country. I am fully committed to the path going forward." While Parnell doesn't come into the series on the back of strong form - he has played just six matches since rejoining the set-up - he does have a significant cache of game-time. Since 2017, Parnell has played in the Afghanistan, and Bangladesh Premier Leagues, the Pakistan Super League and for two counties, where he believed he learnt the most. "In England, when it comes to white-ball cricket, every team is dangerous and that was the thing that took me by surprise initially," he said. "It came off the back of the 2015 World Cup, where they had to rebuild and they basically said if you want to play for England, this is how you have to play and this is how the counties have to play. That made me more experienced. I wouldn't say I am a completely different player, I am just more experienced." In these domestic set-ups, Parnell found the environments more conducive to information sharing and individual growth. "I found I could play with a ...

'Nothing, It's Just Him,' Wayne Parnell Reacts to MS Dhoni's Fandom at Chinnaswamy Dhoni with RCB captain before toss (Twitter/RCBTweets) Royal Challengers Bangalore left-arm seamer Wayne Parnell is loving his time in the Indian Premier League. The southpaw made his return to the lucrative T20 league after nearly a decade in the ongoing season and has made his presence felt thus far. Parnell will have a battle on his hands when he marks his run-up against the MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings in front of a packed Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore on Monday evening. Just In | Another CSK Pacer Injured! RCB Still Field a Josh Hazlewood-Less Team While it is a home game for RCB, it is fair to say that Dhoni will not be short of support from the fans, and Parnell got a first-hand experience of the same, when his pre-match interview with the host broadcaster got intervened with massive roars from the fans as Dhoni walked out to the field. And, Parnell was quick to acknowledge it. "Just MS Dhoni walked out to the ground hence you are listening to so much noise from the crowd. Yeah, giving your best is the only thing that you can do to the team,"he said. Playing in front of a packed crowd can prove to be a double-edged sword. While the support can egg on the home side, the pressure of expectation from loyal fans can also backfire in crucial moments. RCB have already been at the receiving end this season when they lost a high-scoring thriller to the Lucknow Super Giants. Parnell ack...
