In a letter addressed to the National Testing Agency (NTA), Dr Kumar has asked the agency to remove the maximum age criteria from the information bulletin of NEET UG. “It has been decided in the 4th NMC meeting that…there should not be any fixed upper age limit for appearing in the NET UG examination. Therefore, the information bulletin may be modified accordingly,” Dr Kumar said. Taking it to Twitter, the Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Mansukh Mandaviya said, "The National Medical Commission removes the fixed upper age limit for appearing in the NEET-UG examination. NMC Revises NEET UG Age and Tie

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has released a clarification in the NEET UG Age and Tie-Breaking Criteria that is part of the GME Regulations 2023. The revised regulations will be applicable to the candidates who are participating in the NEET UG exam. The GMER-23 regulations were published in Indian Gazette on June 2. The notification regarding the clarification of the age criteria and tie breaking was released yesterday, Jun 14. Those interested can check the official notification by following the link given below: GME Regulations 2023: Revised Age Criteria for the NEET UG For admission to UG medical courses, the limit to complete a minimum 17 years will be Dec 31 of the year of admission, as per the revised GMER-23 regulations. Five days ago, on Jun 9, the NMC had announced that the “Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023” (GMER-23) that the last date will be Jan 31 which has now been changed again. GME Regulations 2023: Tie Breaking for NEET UG As per the GME Regulations 2023, the previous procedure as per the Information Bulletin will be followed for the NEET UG Result 2023. New Delhi: Introducing changes in the rules of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) Examination, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has revised the minimum age criterion for the candidates appearing for the exam. While previously, the cut-off date was December 31 of the concerned admission year, in the newly-notified Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023, NMC has modified this provision. The new provision states that candidates appearing in the NEET examination must have completed the age of 17 years on or before January 31 of the concerned admission year to be declared eligible for the exam. As per Regulation 4(1) of the Medical Council of India Regulations on Graduate Medical Education, 1997, "No Candidate shall be allowed to be admitted to the Medical Curriculum proper of first Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) Course until: (1) He/she shall complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission to the MBBS Course."
