April 27, 2023 - AIPLA co-hosted a standing-room only event in honor of 2023 World Intellectual Property Day on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, to celebrate this year’s theme – Women and IP: Accelerating Innovation and Creativity. We were pleased to be joined by both congressional leaders on IP issues, Sen. Chris Coons, Chair of the Senate Judiciary IP Subcommittee, and Rep. Darrell Issa, Chair of the House IP Subcommittee. Sen. Mazie Hirono generously sponsored the event on Capitol Hill. Introductory remarks were given by USPTO Director Kathi Vidal and Register of Copyrights Shira Perlmutter. A panel of female entrepreneurs and changemakers was moderated by Samantha Aguayo, Deputy Executive Director and Chief Policy Counsel of IPO, and Brad Watts VP for Patents and Innovation Policy at the US Chamber of Commerce’s GIPC.
