The Tamannaah Renaissance has begun. Babli Bouncer has nothing special to offer and has plot points as old as time with an unbelievably messy final act, but what makes it easier to get through is a never before seen Tamannaah who single handedly carries the entire film. Her performance, which did stumble at parts, very much stands out in this otherwise forgettable fare. PS : People who are fans of Tamannaah for her beauty can now be a fan of the actor in her. I don’t think it’s intentionally nasty in fact I think it is well meaning. It’s just the execution that falls flat. Firstly, Madhur’s style of filmmaking doesn’t feel like its present here. With the Disney+ Hotstar original film, Bhandarkar attempts a light-hearted one in a long time. The last time he tried something similar was with Dil Toh Baccha Hai Ji. Does he manage to create the same magic again with Babli Bouncer? Babli Bouncer is about a young girl, Babli (Tamannaah Bhatia), who is naturally gifted with physical strength. She eats 12 parathas easily and gulps down glasses of lassi without blinking. She feeds in every stereotype you might have of a ‘desi’ girl from a village in the Hindi heartland.
