In everyday life there are denominations of 1000, 2000, 5000, 10.000, 20.000, 50.000 and 100.000 IDR, and you can also find coins in denominations from 50 to 1000 rupees. Banknotes issued before 1997 are not valid but can be exchanged at Bank Indonesia. The change unit sen (1/100 rupee) is not issued as a coin, but exists for non-cash payments.
