DOSAGE FORM: Oral tablets 3. DESCRIPTION: Benacof Cold Tablet is used to treat common cold symptoms. It relieves allergy symptoms such as sneezing, itching, watery eyes, or runny nose. It blocks the release of certain chemical messengers that are responsible for pain and fever. 4. PHARMACOLOGY: 4.1 Pharmacodynamics Cetirizine Cetirizine, a human metabolite of hydroxyzine, is an antihistamine; its principal effects are mediated via selective inhibition of peripheral H 1receptors. The antihistaminic activity of cetirizine has been clearly documented in a variety of animal and human models. In vivoand ex vivo,animal models have shown negligible anticholinergic and antiserotonergic activity. In clinical studies, however, dry mouth was more common with cetirizine than with placebo.
