Etawah DM referred to AIIMS after spinal injury

Etawah DM Vidya Bhushan suffered serious injuries after he dived from a two-metre high board into a swimming pool in Saifai village. The Uttar Pradesh government's claim of developing an " international standard" swimming pool in Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's Saifai village fell flat when the Etawah district magistrate suffered serious injuries on Saturday at the facility. District Magistrate Vidya Bhushan's head hit the surface of the swimming pool, constructed in Chandagi Ram Stadium, when he dived from a twometre high board. Often criticised for developing Saifai at the cost of entire Uttar Pradesh, the village having a population of 3,000 people, Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav brought almost every modern facility to this village when he was the chief minister. Chief Minister Akhilesh has been following his father's footsteps. The swimming pool was recently completed at a cost of Rs 250 crore. A source in the state government told M AIL T ODAY that the DM suffered the injuries as there was insufficient water in the swimming pool. " The employees, posted at the swimming pool, don't take much interest in the maintenance of the pool. They are not qualified enough for it. The pool was half- filled when the DM took the plunge," a government officer said. Actively pursuing the localised development schemes of the Samajwadi Party government,...
