Marvel Studios Taps Ma Dong

South Korean actor Ma Dong-seok, also known as Don Lee, will make his American film debut in Marvel Studios’“The Eternals,” which focuses on a group of ancient human beings, an individual with knowledge of the project exclusively told TheWrap. Details about the role for the actor, who broke out in 2016’s South Korean zombie apocalypse action thriller “Train to Busan,” are being kept under wraps. “The Rider” director Chloe Zhao will direct the film. Matthew and Ryan Firpo (“Ruin”) are writing the script. Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige is producing. Logo text Making his American debut, The actor first rose to worldwide prominence in 2016’s zombie horror-thriller Train to Busan, and Hollywood has been knocking on Lee’s door ever since the Korean film’s Cannes premiere. In 2019, the stars finally aligned with an Eternals role that would require Lee’s character to protect Angelina Jolie’s volatile warrior Eternal, Thena. “I was a fan of Angelina before this film, and once we both met, it felt like we were old friends that had finally met after being separated in different parts of the world,” Lee tells The Hollywood Reporter. “Throughout the movie, our characters protected and looked out for each other, but we also protected and looked out for each other in real life, too.” In a recent conversation with THR, Lee and his Korean translator, Jenny Park, discussed his most memorable moment on set, as well as his character’s CG baby costume. Ma Dong Seok is a South Korean actor. He was born on March 1, 1971, with the name Lee Dong Seok and also goes by the name Don Lee. Prior to his acting career, Ma Dong Seok worked as a personal trainer to mixed martial artists Mark Coleman and Kevin Randleman. Ma Dong Seok made his acting debut in the 2005 film “Heaven’s Soldiers.” He has since appeared in many popular films and television dramas, including the recent “Shut Up! Flower Boy Band” (2012), “Bad Guys” (2014), “Sense8” (2015), “Squad 38” (2016) and the web drama “Tong: Memories” (2016).
