Guru is the ultimate protector: Morari Bapu

Morari Bapu is a very famous expounder of the famous epic Ramayana written by Goswami Tulsidas. Normally, Bapu picks two lines from the epic and explains them in detail over 9-days adding context from the various sacred scriptures, anecdotes, folklore and more. The idea is to plant the root meaning of these lines and to understand their antecedent and relevance in larger concept of the text as well as life. Morari Bapu, who is attributed with taking the Ramayana to the homes and hearts of the people all over India and the world, connects all teachings with morals and ideals that need to be incorporated in daily living to bring more joy and peace in people’s lives. Starting his address in a rather unconventional way, Bapu first related the story of Aranyakand, the third canto of the Ramayana, and later picked the above lines though he normally begins his talk by singing the two central lines. During the narration, he emphasized the point of Shabari’s devotion where she is infused with joy at the meeting of Ram, but her greater reason for celebration is that her Guru’s words have come true that if she waited, the Sun among the Raghavas – Lord Ram, would one day himself walk up to her at her ashram. And true enough, Ram during the period of exile reaches Shabari’s ashram searching for his consort Sita, who has been abducted by the demon king Ravana. Ram then asks Shabari for aid who in turn directs him to Pampa and beyond urging him to forge friendship with Sugreeva. Morari B...

Muslims rebuild Ram temple ravaged in cyclone Tauktae in Gujarat's Amreli village

AMRELI: In a heart-warming example of communal harmony, a Muslim family helped rebuild a temple of Lord Rama that was damaged when cyclone Tauktae left a trail of destruction in the coastal Amreli district in May 2021. The new avatar of the small temple, which was built on land donated by a Muslim in Zar village several years ago, was unveiled in the presence of acclaimed religious leaders, including Ram Kathakar Morari Bapu, on Wednesday. The family of Daudbhai Lalilya decided to take forward the legacy of the village's interfaith amity by taking the responsibility of not just rebuilding the temple but also expanding its courtyard so that more people can visit to pray. As the family spent lakhs of rupees on the renovation, Laliya's nephews gave additional land for a bigger premises. Original temple was built on land given by Muslim family A 'sant sabha' addressed by nearly 10 religious leaders was also organized at the Laliya family's residence. "We have never treated each other as Hindus or Muslims. Communal brotherhood has been a tradition in our village. We only pray that the atmosphere of religious discord ends for good," said Daudbhai, a rich farmer whose Laliya family has been living in Zar for generations.

Morari Bapu: The Path of Light in a Time of Darkness

In these turbulent times, waking up day after day to news of war and strife, death, despair and disaster - not a corner of the globe untouched - it is more important yet harder than ever to find a sense of peace within. Governments fail to act, religion provides no safe haven and the Earth appears to be destroying itself and us with every passing environmental calamity. Born in 1947 in a small village in Gujrat, India, spiritual leader Morari Bapu spent his earliest years learning the Ram Charit Manas from his Grandfather and Guru, Tribhovandas Dada. Remarkably, he memorized the scriptures by the time he was twelve and two years later, sat under the canopy of an old tree in the village of Talgajarda reciting the Ramayana to his first three followers. Today, his teachings have reached more than one hundred million people around the world. Reverently referred to as Bapu by his followers, this humble man's teachings are startlingly simple: to live in adherence with Truth, Love and Compassion. For over fifty years, Bapu has been holding nine-day spiritual gatherings - known as kathas - during which he selects a couplet from the Ramayana and expounds upon its meaning, explaining its relevance for modern day life. In half a century of sharing this wisdom he has held over 700 kathas all around the world, from India to America, Bali to Brazil. Two years ago, at the foothills of the sacred Mount Kailas in Tibet, Bapu held one of the most profound kathas to date. Although Bapu is Hi...
