About Sri Ramanujacharya: • Born in 1017 CE in Tamil Nadu. • He is the most respected Acharya in the philosophy of Sri Vaishnavism. • He was also referred to as Ilaya Perumal which means the radiant one. • His philosophical foundations for devotionalism were influential to the Bhakti movement. • He is famous as the chief proponent of Vishishtadvaita subschool of Vedānta. • He wrote influential texts, such as bhāsya on the Brahma Sutras and the Bhagavad Gita, all in Sanskrit. What is Vishishtadvaita? • It is a non-dualistic school of Vedanta philosophy. It is non-dualism of the qualified whole, in which Brahman alone exists, but is characterized by multiplicity. • It can be described as qualified monism or qualified non-dualism or attributive monism. • It is a school of Vedanta philosophy which believes in all diversity subsuming to an underlying unity. Born in 1017 CE, at Sri:pe:rumbudur, India, Ra:ma:nu:jacha:rya, is revered worldwide as a Vedic philosopher, social reformer and one of the most important exponents of Sri Vaishnava tradition. In his 120 year life, travelled across Bharat, understanding the way of life of all sections, at the same time, focusing on individual needs. • Brought the treasure of Vedic literature to the doorsteps of the common man. • Advocated the philosophy of Visista:dvaitha, qualified monism. • Dispelled the Ma:ya:va:da concept, the world is illusionary. • Became the preceptor of the Bhakthi movement and the source for all other Bhakthi Schools of thought. • Was an inspiration for mystic poets like Kabir, Meerabai, Annama:cha:rya, Bhaktha Ra:mdas, Thya:garaja and many others. • Initiated the concept that Nature and her resources like Water, Air, Soil, Trees etc., are sacred and should be protected from pollution. • Vedartha-Sangraha – A treatise presenting the tenets of Visishtadvaita, a reconciliation of different conflicting srutis. • Sri Bhashya – A detailed commentary on the Vedanta Sutras. Life and Teachings of Ramanuja

Born in a prominent Telugu Brahmin family in the twelfth century, Ramanuja was one of the most influential philosophers and theologians of mediaeval India. Well-versed in both Vedanta and Yoga, he is recognised for his work on the premise that there is one absolute reality that anyone can know through the practice of Yoga. Influenced by Vedanta, Ramanuja’s philosophy emphasised that the true nature of God can only be understood through self-realisation. Though his ideas were controversial at the time, they influenced many philosophers and theologians who followed him. Who Was Ramanuja? Ramanuja was a Hindu philosopher who lived in southern India during the 11th century. He is considered one of the most influential philosophers in the history of Hinduism. He is best known for his philosophy of Vishishtadvaita, which holds that the Ultimate Reality is one infinite essence that manifests in three different ways. Ramanuja’s teachings had a profound impact on the development of Hinduism, and followers of the faith widely revere him. Ramanuja’s Childhood And Education Ramanuja was born in 1017 in India.
