ATM Charges The Reserve Bank of India (RBI), in June 2021, notified an increase in ATM charges. According to the notification, RBI has allowed the banks to charge Rs 21 instead of Rs 20 per transaction, to its customers for ATM transactions beyond the free limit. The hike is effective from 1 January 2022. All customers must note that they are eligible for five free transactions from their own bank's ATM. Moreover, they are also allowed to make three free transactions in metro cities and five free transactions in non-metro cities from other banks' ATM. Bank Locker Rules According to a notification released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), it is the responsibility of the bank to ensure safety and security of the premises in which the safe deposit vaults (lockers) are located. The notification also states that in instances where loss of contents of locker are due to incidents like fire, theft/burglary/robbery, dacoity, building collapse or fraud committed by its employee(s), banks will have to pay hundred times the prevailing annual rent of the safe deposit locker.

By the end of January, the banks have had issued over 93 crore debit cards. One of the leading banks in the debit card issuance is State Bank of India. The largest public sector bank has issued over 27.83 lakh debit card with a market share of 32.3% as of March 2018. If you are an SBI customer, you must have received a message that the bank has debited certain charge from your account in the name of annual maintenance charges for the debit card. The charges are different for different cards. However, if you hold a salary account with the SBI, no annual maintenance charges will be deducted from your account. 1) Account holders with upto ₹25,000 Average Monthly Balance (AMB) in their savings bank account will get eight free transactions, including five transactions at SBI ATMs and three transactions at other bank ATMs in six metro centres ( Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad). In non-metros, such account holders will get 10 free transactions, including five at 2) ₹25,000 and upto ₹50,000 AMB will get 8 free transactions at other bank ATMs ( 3 in metros, 5 non-metros). 3) SBI will allow its customers maintaining an average balance of more than ₹25,000 in their savings accounts an unlimited transactions at State Bank Group (SBG) ATMs. 4) SBI account holders maintaining an average balance of above ₹50,000 and upto ₹1,00,000 will get 8 free transactions at other bank ATMs ( 3 in metros, 5 non-metros). 5) SBI will allow its customers maintaining an average balance of more than ₹1,00,000 in their savings accounts an unlimited transactions at SBG ATMs as well as other banks ATMs. 6) SBI will charge a fee ranging from ₹10 plus GST to ₹20 plus GST for any additional financial transactions beyond the set limit. 7) SBI will charge a fee ranging from ₹5 plus GST to ₹8 plus GST for any additional non- financial transactions beyond the set limit. 8) The bank will charge a fee of ₹20 plus GST for transaction decline due to insufficient balance. 9) SBI will allow one way inter-changeability for branch transaction on ATM transactions.
