World Test Championship The ICC World Test Championship (WTC) is a league competition for Test cricket, which is run by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The International Cricket Council (ICC) has established the ICC World Test Championship as a league competition for Test cricket, with the aim of making it the primary championship for this format of the game. The competition aims to determine the world's top Test cricket team over a two-year cycle, which includes all Test-playing nations.The competition commenced on 1 August 2019 and aligns with the ICC's objective of having one top tournament for each of the three formats of international cricket. The WTC 2021-23 cycle was launched in August 2021 and is accompanied by a new points system, with the ICC having formally announced the complete schedule. The WTC points system assigns points to each team based on the results of their Test matches, with the two teams accumulating the most points qualifying for the WTC final, which is held once every two years.
