UP’s first ‘Amrit Sarovar’ in Rampur draws praise from PM Modi

LUCKNOW: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday referred to a local pond in Shahabad’s Patwai area of Rampur in Uttar Pradesh being transformed into an ‘Amrit Sarovar’ – the name the PM has given to an initiative that seeks to focus on the need for water conservation, among other things. he pond in Rampur after transformation. (Sourced) The PM made the mention of Rampur in his radio show, ‘Mann ki Baat’ and said as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ (75 years of India’s independence), each district would have 75 ‘Amrit Sarovars’ or ponds. As part of the initiative, the Uttar Pradesh government has also decided to come up with at least 1000 such ‘Amrit Sarovars’ across the state in the first phase and Rampur has taken the lead in this direction where one ‘sarovar’ has come up and another is coming up on 1.67 hectares of land. Officials of the urban development department said that the PM’s praise would ensure that efforts in this regard were intensified across the state. “It is quite possible that the areas you live in don’t have any water scarcity. But you also have to bear in minds how for many others, each drop of water is worth ‘amrit’ (the elixir of life). Water conservation is also part of the resolve that the country has taken up as part of the Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. As part of this initiative, 75 Amrit Sarovars would come up across the state. Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav: Drawing competition organised at Rajouri – India Education

RAJOURI : In continuation to the programmes being held under Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav, the District Information Centre Rajouri in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department today organised a painting competition here at One Stop Centre. As many as twenty inmates of Nari Nikatan participated in the competition with zeal. They beautifully portrayed their perception and produced colourful drawings. The painting competition was organised on a children based theme. Later, the best-adjudged participants were also felicitated with prizes. District Social Welfare Officer, Wakeel Ahmed Bhatt congratulated the winners and highlighted the objective of celebrating the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahostav. Chief Accounts Officer, Shabana Azmin highlighted the role of women in the freedom struggle and in the social reforms in India. Administrator OSC, Nitu Sharma; Superintendent Nari Nikatan, Nidhi Sharma and Legal counsellor OSC, Aksha Malik managed and coordinated the programme. Among the others present were CAO, Shabana Azmin, DIO, Narinder Kumar; Sarpanch, Samrewn Khan.

Winner Announcement of ‘Draw Your Favourite Freedom Hero’

08 Nov 2021 The Directorate of Publications Division of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB), Government of India announced a drawing competition as a part of Azadi ka #AmritMahotsav from 23rd August 2021 to 29th August 2021. With the theme “ Draw Your Favourite Freedom Hero”, children of age 7-15 years were encouraged to know more about India’s freedom fighters as they drew their favourite freedom hero, and at the same time explore their creative instinct. Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is an initiative of the Government of India to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive India and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements. This Mahotsav is dedicated to the people of India who have not only been instrumental in bringing India thus far in its evolutionary journey but also hold within them the power and potential to enable the Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision of activating India 2.0, fuelled by the spirit of AatmaNirbhar Bharat. The Publications Division received an overwhelming number of entries.
