Tafsir: Surah Al Qadr

In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious Most Merciful. 1. Verily, We have sent it down in the Night of Al-Qadr 2. And What will make you know what the Night of Al-Qadr is? 3. The Night of Al-Qadr is better than a thousand months. 4. Therein descend the angels and the Ruh by their Lord’s permission with every matter. 5. There is peace until the appearance of dawn. The Virtues of the Night of Al-Qadr (the Decree) Allah informs that He sent the Quran down during the Night of Al-Qadr, and it is a blessed night about which Allah says, We sent it down on a blessed night [ This is the Night of Al-Qadr and it occurs during the month of Ramadan. This is as Allah says, The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Quran [ Ibn Abbas and others have said, “Allah sent the Quran down all at one time from the Preserved Tablet (Al-Lawh Al-Mahfuz) to the House of Might (Baytul-Izzah), which is in the heaven of this world. Then it came down in parts to the Messenger of Allah (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa Sallam) based upon the incidents that occurred over a period of twenty-three years.” Then Allah magnified the status of the Night of Al-Qadr, which He chose for the revelation of the Mighty Quran, by His saying, And What will make you know what the Night of Al-Qadr is? The Night of Al-Qadr is better than a thousand months. [At-Tabari 24:531, 532, and Al-Qurtubi 20:130] Imam Ahmad recorded that Abu Hurayrah said, “When Ramadan would come, the Messenger of Allah (Sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa Sallam) wou...

Surah Qadr is the 97th Surah of the Holy Quran, and it contains five verses that discuss the significance of the lovely night. “We sent down the Quran in the night of glory,” reads the first verse, widely known as Laylatul Qadr or Shab e Qadar. ”Find out the night of glory in the last Ashra of Ramadan’ which means the last odd ten days of Ramadan.” remarked Prophet Hazrat Mohammad (ﷺ). This night is kept secret because it has so many benefits that if individuals worship and beg for forgiveness on this night, it is enough to pardon the entire Ummah. As a result, it’s one of the five nights of Ramadan in which it’s supposed to be discovered by worshipping on all of them; however, there are hints that it’s the 27th night. Hazrat Ubai bin Kaab (R.A.), a companion (Sahabi e Rasool) of the Prophet Mohammad (R.A.), stated, “I take vow (Kasam) that it is the 27th night of Ramadan.” Surah Qadr in Arabic Surah Al Qadr Transliteration Bismillah hir rahman nir raheem Innaa anzalnaahu fee lailatil qadr Wa maa adraaka ma lailatul qa...

(97:5) All peace is that night until the rise of dawn. 5 Commentary 1. The words in the original are anzalana hu: We sent it down. But although there is no mention of the Quran before it, the Quran is implied, for sending down by itself points out that the Quran is meant. And there are numerous instances of this in the Quran that if from the context, or the style, the antecedent of a pronoun is apparent, the pronoun is used even if the antecedent has not been mentioned anywhere before or after it. (For explanation, see( Here, it has been said: We sent it down (the Quran) in the Night of Destiny, and in ( There can be two meanings of sending down the Quran in this night: First, that in this night the entire Quran was entrusted to the bearers (angels) of revelation, and then Gabriel continued to reveal its verses and Surahs, from time to tim...
